Though there are millions of people actively reading the Quran and memorizing it on a daily basis, it is important to understand that each and every Muslim should have a deeper understanding and a good relation with the Book of Allah (SWT). There are two points that must be set to stone in the minds of any who wish to learn, read and understand the Quran. The first is that the last Holy Scripture is nothing short of a blessing of Allah (SWT) towards humanity and the second is to completely understand and have faith in the fact that the Quran is as relevant today as it was over 1400 years ago when it was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Quran is not a common book and though it has been recorded into writing over the years, it is a fact that the contents of the Quran are not the product of any human mind; rather they are the direct words of Allah (SWT) who in His infinite mercy has sent down towards mankind. Another aspect that makes the Quran unique is the fact that there are many inherent qualities related to the Quran.
Qualities of the Last Holy Scripture
1. “There shall come to you guidance from Me, and whosoever follows My guidance no fear shall be on them, neither shall they sorrow.” (Quran Surah Baqarah 2:38)
This verse proves that the Quran is the greatest favour and blessing of Allah (SWT) towards mankind.
2. The Quran has direct physical benefits to a person’s health apart from its inherent remedies related to spiritual aliments. The recitation of the Quran is a tried and true method to get rid of fear and anxiety and to live a happier and more content life. It is the best cure for any social or spiritual problems that a person might have in this dark world. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said,
“The Quran is an intercessor and it’s intercession is accepted and its plea is believed. Whoever makes it lead him – it leads him to Paradise and whomsoever places it behind him (the result will be) he is dragged to the Fire.”
3. The Quran is the true reminder of the purpose and inevitable destiny of humans. It paints and accurate portrait of what a person can expect after death, whether he or she may find salvation or otherwise. The Quran does not leave these fates at chance, rather it provides clear instructions and teachings that if followed are able to protect a person from meeting a bad fate in the afterlife. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said,
“The Prophet Muhammad said, “You must engage in Remembrance of Allah and the recitation of His Book, for it is light for you on earth and (a means by which) you will be mentioned in the Heavens.”
Many pages and texts and even tomes can be fulfilled to the brim that would bear testament to the qualities and the relevance of the Quran. Suffice it to say that Muslims who learn Quran online or otherwise should not simply recite it for the sake of completing it and fulfilling a duty, rather they should contemplate over it so that they may be able to understand the true meanings of what Allah (SWT) has said to us and to live life according to its teachings.
